frequently asked questions

what makes mergingminds unique?

mergingminds is unique because we help empower people and provide the option to connect with likeminded people in a private community space. We provide free, regular ongoing coworking sessions, an engaged community, and real-time guidance to ensure lasting results.

how much time will I need to commit each week?

Most people benefit from weekly sessions as they help create a feeling of momentum. One-hour sessions are the most popular, but some people prefer two and even three hour sessions. It really depends on your thinking style and circumstances. A curiosity call and free trial might help you decide.

BrainBoost Zing Performance Programmes involve 20–30 minutes per day for 90 days.

how soon will I see results?

The pace of change varies from person to person. A curiosity call and free trial can help you explore whether our support fits your goals. Contact us to discuss your situation.

will this work for my specific situation?

A curiosity call and free trial might help you discover what is the right fit for your situation right now. Also, some of our community members might be able to help, if you ask them.

do you offer payment plans?

Yes.
Our payment plans can be weekly or monthly, whatever your preference. If you decide to pay for your sessions in advance, to make things simpler, you get the same value as people who pay weekly and monthly.

what payment options do you offer for private clients?
  • Credit Card
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • PayPal
  • Stripe

Available methods are shown at checkout. We provide invoices and pro forma invoices. Contact us if you need one or would like to discuss a payment plan.

what happens after the programs end?

After completing your program, you are welcome to book in single sessions in the future, when things pop up you’d like to explore. You will of course continue to have access to our community. Also, you are more than welcome to join our regular online coworking sessions, if you find them useful.

After completing the 90-day BrainBoost Zing Performance Program, you are welcome to continue the exercises via the app at a monthly reduced rate for as long as you like, if you still find them beneficial. Equally you are welcome to schedule SELF-EMDR Coaching, ADHD Coaching, Dyslexia Coaching or Reiki as and when you like.

You can also take a break and return later.

What is DSA and how can I apply?

Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) is support to cover the study-related costs you have because of a mental health problem, long-term illness or any other disability. This can be on its own or in addition to any student finance you get.

The type of support and how much you get depends on your individual needs, not your household income.

Find out about DSA and how to apply on GOV.UK.

If you would like to speak to us about the possibility of Student Finance paying for your tutoring and mentoring, contact us.

Can I get a tutor for free?

Possibly! It is worth looking into Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA). Some people may be eligible without realising it.

University is very different to school. If you would like to explore whether DSA could pay for a specialist tutor, training and other support, contact your university or contact us.

What payment options do you offer for students not in receipt of DSA?

Credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and Stripe.

If DSA is paying for your tutor, we will invoice Student Finance England directly. You will just need to sign a time sheet each session.

What if I decide my tutor isn’t a good fit for me after the free trial?

We know this happens sometimes as everyone is unique. That’s exactly why we provide free trials with zero pressure to request sessions with us.

You may resonate with one specialist more than another, so feel free to contact other professionals before deciding who is right for you.

To request a provider other than mergingminds, you can use the email template with their details instead.

What is mergingminds’ cancellation policy?

It is your responsibility to notify mergingminds if you are unable to attend a session.

If you cancel a remote session with less than 24 hours’ notice, the session will be charged for. For an in-person session, 48 hours’ notice is required.

On the day, your coach, trainer, tutor or mentor will wait a maximum of 15 minutes. If you have not arrived by then, the session will be classed as cancelled by you and charged for.

How can I ask for mergingminds to provide my NMH support through DSA?

You can request mergingminds to provide your Specialist Study Skills Tutor and/or Specialist Mentor (MH) if you are happy with remote support.

Send the email template above to your Needs Assessment Centre (StudyTech or Capita) to ask for a change of DSA provider.

Can mergingminds price-match quotes on my DSA2 form?

Yes. Please contact us.

Who is the support for?

Everyone can access tutoring, mentoring and assistive technology training. Some people apply for government support through DSA and some choose to pay privately.

Everyone can access coaching, mentoring and assistive technology training. Some people apply for government support through Access to Work, some employers pay for the support and some people choose to pay privately.

Can I get coaching, equipment and software training for free?

Possibly. Access to Work may help pay for practical support if you have a disability or health condition that affects your work. A formal diagnosis is not necessary to apply.

Support is based on your individual needs. If you receive a grant, it will not affect other benefits and you will not have to pay it back. You or your employer may need to pay some costs up front and claim them back later.

Check eligibility and how to apply on GOV.UK, or contact us to discuss coaching and training.

Is there a way to get Zing Performance Programs through a publicly funded healthcare system?

It is currently unclear which healthcare systems will fund Zing Performance Programmes. Your insurance may be able to cover them; ask your insurer to confirm eligibility, coverage and any costs before booking.

I am self-employed. Can I still apply for Access to Work?

Yes. Self-employed people can apply, subject to the scheme’s eligibility requirements. Check the requirements and apply on GOV.UK.

Can I ask Access to Work to pay for a Zing Performance Program?

You can ask your case worker whether the programme could be included in your support. If you would like us to help with information for your request, contact us.

Can mergingminds price-match quotes from Access to Work?

Yes. Please contact us to ask for a pro forma invoice.

How can I change my provider to mergingminds?

Ask us for an invoice for the coaching or technology training you would like us to provide. Check with your Access to Work case worker that the support and cost match what has been agreed in your grant.

When claiming, you will need your support dates and the requested invoices or receipts. See the GOV.UK claiming guidance or ask us for an invoice.

Is it possible to pay in instalments?

Yes. The Brain Boost Zing Performance Program is also available in 12 monthly or 52 weekly payments. These plans let people save up over a year; programmes can be started after nine months of payments.

If you would like anything else payable with weekly or monthly payments, contact us.

Money is tricky at the moment. Are there other ways to access your services?

We want our services to be accessible, regardless of people’s current financial situation.

Bursaries: we often have bursaries available, which may mean you do not need to pay us. Please get in touch to ask.

Skill swap: our community includes people who share their services in exchange for other services. Contact us to ask about a skill swap.

I have an idea for your website. How can I share it?

We are always looking to improve our service, especially if it involves making our services more accessible. If you have an idea, please contact us.

What if a service isn’t a good fit for me after the free trial?

Everyone is unique. That’s why we provide free trials with no pressure to purchase further sessions.

You may feel more comfortable with another specialist, benefit from trying a different service, or choose to look elsewhere. We can signpost you to other services if further exploration could help.

Contact us if you would like to talk through your options.
